A Bona Fide Killer Is More Than Just an Assassin Story | HIGHLY RECOMMENDED KDRAMA

It’s been a while since I’ve given a HIGHLY recommended K-drama here on the blog, and here it is! This is the one for me this year! At first glance, A Bona Fide Killer looks like a familiar vigilante thriller. There is a mysterious killer, a detective determined to uncover the truth, dangerous missions, and criminals who seem to have escaped the justice system. But after watching the entire series, what makes the drama special is that the assassin story is only one part of it.

At the center of everything is Bona, a woman living two completely different lives. To her family, she is a loving wife and mother. To the criminal world, she is Kingfisher, a highly skilled assassin who targets people she believes deserve punishment. What makes Bona interesting is that the drama never reduces her to either identity. She is both.

That contrast gives the story much more emotional weight. Bona isn't simply trying to survive as Kingfisher. She is also trying to protect the ordinary life she built with her husband Taeseong and their daughter Yul. Her family isn't just a weakness added to make the story more dramatic. They are the reason her secret matters so much.

And that is where Taeseong becomes one of the most important parts of the story.

Rather than immediately quitting his job, Eun Tae returns to the office with his lottery winnings as a safety net. The new stills highlight the contrast between his exhausted self before the jackpot and the subtle shift in his attitude afterward.

Lee Jun Hyuk described Eun Tae as a hardworking office worker who always gives his best despite the pressures of his job. He also teased the character’s understated emotional changes as he adjusts to his unexpected fortune.

KBS 2TV’s upcoming weekend drama “A Love Other Than You” is gearing up to tell a more grounded and emotional story about love that has lasted for a decade.

Starring Seo Kang Joon and Ahn Eun Jin, the drama centers on a couple who have been together for 10 years. After spending so much time knowing each other, they suddenly find themselves facing unfamiliar feelings that challenge the relationship they thought they understood.

Rather than focusing on an idealized romance, “A Love Other Than You” aims to portray the honest and complicated emotions that can emerge in a long-term relationship, including feelings that are difficult to admit even to the person closest to you.

The new realistic melodrama is scheduled to premiere on September 12 on KBS 2TV. ❤️‍🩹

Kim Soo Hyun Set to Make First Official Domestic Appearance in Over a Year

Kim Soo Hyun is set to return to the public spotlight as a presenter at the 2026 The Fact Music Awards (TMA).

The actor will attend the ceremony on September 19 at Busan Asiad Main Stadium, marking his first official appearance at a domestic event in approximately a year and a half.

His upcoming attendance comes after his last official domestic appearance at a March 2025 press conference, where he addressed the controversy surrounding the late actress Kim Sae Ron.

One of the K-dramas I genuinely enjoyed this year is “Spooky in Love.” 

I know some viewers may consider it flawed, especially because of the sudden breakup in Episode 10 and the predictable “white truck” accident that put Park Eun Bin’s character through another dramatic ordeal. I agree that these are pretty common K-drama tropes, but honestly, I didn’t mind them that much. The drama gave me far more fun and happiness than reasons to dwell on its flaws.

Agent Kim Reactivated Review: A Thrilling K-Drama Worth Every Episode

Agent Kim Reactivated is that one K-drama I enjoyed from the first episode all the way to the finale. Like, I savored every bit of it, there wasn't a single boring scene for me. It was thrilling, suspenseful, exciting, and just so much fun to watch.

The combination of three middle-aged men searching for Min-Ji was perfect, especially since they were all former agents who had carried out special missions. Each of them had their own unique personality, and when you put them together, they were just chaotic. I swear, these three alone were worth the time.

This drama also mastered the art of using cliffhangers to keep viewers tuning in week after week. It's crazy how well it worked! Considering how it instantly became a hit and pulled in insanely high viewership ratings, I guess the trick really did its job.

On June 18, a social media user shared screenshots of an alleged DM conversation claiming that director Cho Nam Hyung had indirectly confirmed that the two pairs were dating. In the messages, the supposed director responded that he could not discuss specifics but suggested that the chemistry between the actors was genuine and asked fans to support them warmly.

Actor Kim Mu-yeol has surpassed 1 million followers on Instagram, fueled by the popularity of Netflix's Teach You A Lesson.

On June 17, Kim Mu Yeol's official Instagram account crossed the 1 million follower mark. Prior to the drama's June 5 premiere, he had around 200,000 followers. In just two weeks, that number grew more than fivefold as interest in both the series and the actor skyrocketed.

The Scarecrow: Find Out Who Might Be The Real Culprit As of Episode 6

There’s been a lot of speculation in the K-drama world right now about who the real killer is in the ongoing series The Scarecrow, starring Park Hae Soo and Lee Hee Jun. Because of that, I tried researching the Hwaseong case, which is believed to be the real-life inspiration for the drama’s Kangseong case.

In the Hwaseong case, it took investigators 33 years (three decades) to identify the real killer. The police initially accused several suspects and eventually imprisoned the wrong person, someone who has disability. The wrongly accused man’s last name was Yoon, but his full name was withheld to protect his privacy. The real killer, Lee Chun Jae, later confessed while serving a life sentence after raping and murdering his sister-in-law. One major mistake in the investigation was the belief that the killer had blood type B, when in fact, he had blood type O, one of the key reasons the case remained unsolved for so long.

IU and Byeon Woo-seok Make Viewers’ Hearts Flutter with Their Sweet Moments in “Perfect Crown” Episode 8

Episode 8 of Perfect Crown had so many scenes that made my heart flutter. The early part genuinely made me emotional, Byeon Woo-seok’s acting was so good, especially when Prince I-an showed how terrified he was of losing another loved one, and the pure relief he felt when Hui-ju finally woke up.

But after that, the mood shifted, and the scenes of Hui-ju and Prince I-an getting closer completely sent me. Their chemistry is getting stronger every episode, and that lighthearted kiss? Ahhhh!

I swear, the butterflies they’re giving me are unreal. Hahaha!

From the writer behind the masterpiece dramas My Mister and My Liberation Notes, Park Hae Young returns with We Are All Trying Here, starring Go Youn Jung, Koo Kyo Hwan, Oh Jung Se, Park Hae Joon, and more.

The drama follows people whose lives are weighed down by envy and jealousy as they search for peace and healing.

It centers on The Eight Club, a group of friends who formed their bond as students and promised to rely on one another. As adults, they all became respected directors and producers in their fields...except for one member, Hwang Dong Man, who was left behind.

Hwang Dong Man is seen as a pathetic loser by his friends. In their circle, he is the only one who still hasn’t debuted as a director. At 40 years old, he works as a teacher, but he’s losing students every day because they don’t believe in what he’s teaching. He’s overly passionate, yet his own life doesn’t reflect his words. To make ends meet, he also takes on part-time jobs, but it’s still clearly not enough.

His brother wants him to quit chasing his dream and work in construction instead, so he can have a stable income. After all, it’s been 20 years and nothing has happened. But Dong Man is stubborn and refuses to give up, continuing to work on his screenplay day and night.

Perfect Crown First Impression | Episode 1 and 2 Recap and Review

The highly anticipated drama starring IU and Byeon Woo Seok premiered on April 10, and almost every K-drama fan page has been posting updates about the first two episodes. The hype is definitely real.

Episodes 1 and 2 pulled in 7.8% and 9.5% nationwide ratings, which is already a huge jump compared to the drama that previously aired in the same time slot, In Your Radiant Season.

10 favorite K-dramas I watched in 2025

Here are my 10 favorite K-dramas I watched in 2025.
Please note that this list is purely based on my personal taste, and it’s in no particular order.

1. Buried Hearts
This drama made me fall in love with Park Hyung Sik. The story is incredibly intriguing, and the ending is haunting. Up until now, I can still feel the heaviness it left behind. It was a great show overall.

2. Study Group
I rarely enjoy high school dramas these days, but this one kept me hooked until the very end. I genuinely loved it.
