The Good Bad Mother Ends With Their Highest Nationwide Viewership Rating

The Good Bad Mother ends with their highest nationwide viewership rating of 12% and became the only Wednesday-Thursday drama in JTBC history to achieve this milestone as of writing. I'd say this drama really deserved this much attention from the viewers. The story is filled with heartwarming scenes and lessons in life that could touch anyone's heart. The actors performed really well and the plot was just superb. It surely became one of my favorite Kdramas of all time. The whole story really was well written and unfolded smoothly each episode. The ending was fantastic as well! I'd recommend this for sure to everyone who wants to experience a good cry.

JTBC had a back-to-back hit and endings in a span of a week. First was Doctor Cha and then The Good Bad Mother. Both created a buzz in the Kdrama world and also ended with their very own highest nationwide viewership ratings. But if I were to compare the two, I'd say that The Good Bad Mother had the best ending.

Between the two hit dramas, The Good Bad Mother has satisfied most of its viewers while Doctor Cha, though some were also satisfied with the ending, a few was left raging and disappointed.

What do you think about these two dramas?

Min Woo Hyuk Expressed Dissappointment Over His Character's Ending (Doctor Roy) In Doctor Cha KDrama

Have you guys read about the article wherein Min Woo Hyuk (the actor behind Roy Kim in Doctor Cha) expressed disappointment over his character's ending? It's all over the internet now.

We really have the same sentiments, I mean, the drama has built his character so well from episodes 1-15. He already became a strong and important character so I found it disappointing that his character left without much impact. I mean, I do get it that he's still a doctor of Jeong Suk but that's just that. What he did in the past, his efforts and all to look good, all of it grew on us viewers and so the expectation of them ending up together got nurtured as well.

Sigh. Expectation really is bad. Lol This is worst than Dalmi ending up with Dosan in Start-up. Haha! But that'a just based on my experience and opinion, ofcourse.

Back to his interview, Min Woo Hyuk said that he preferred an ending with Roy maintaining a close relationship with Cha Jeong Suk or just go back to the U.S. and reunite with his foster parents instead of closing the curtains with him dating another woman.

But hey, this might be the reason why they didn't end up together?

Min Woo Hyuk highlighted that despite having a good upbringing from his foster parents, Roy must have felt that there's still something lacking within him. And so when he encountered Doctor Cha suffering also from another form of 'family issues', this probably may have triggered his emotions and had the urge to protect Doctor Cha ever since.

After reading this, I suddenly remembered Doctor Cha saying that she never saw herself and Doctor Roy being together at all. Maybe, Doctor Cha already read on what kind of feelings Doctor Roy has for her since the beginning. Hmmm... maybe it was all for empathy.

Anyways, there's nothing we can do about the ending now. At least, Doc Cha is happy and healthy after all the chaos she has gone through. That's what matters the most, this drama is entitled Doctor Cha for a reason. Haha!

Doctor Cha Ends with An All Time High Nationwide Viewerhsip Rating | A Personal Record

How are you guys moving on from Doctor Cha craze? It hasn't been a week since the finale episode but I'm already missing it. Speaking of finale, it seemed like the viewers are divided into two when it comes to their reaction to the ending. The satisfied and the disappointed viewers. It's okay, I respect it, we all have different preferences with how we wanted a drama to end after all. The fact that even the ending is creating a buzz in the kdrama world meant how powerful Doctor Cha really has become.

Not only the reaction of the viewers prove this fact, Doctor Cha finale episode became its personal best when it comes to their nationwide viewership ratings. Episode 16 garnered an 18.54% nationwide viewership rating while 19.38% on the metropolitan viewership ratings.

Due to the success of the drama, the whole production team including the actors will go on a vacation to Vietnam by the end of June as a reward. Congratulations to all of them!

Uhm Jung Hwa Rejected Min Woo Hyuk In Doctor Cha Episode 16

Well, that's it. Doctor Cha ended with our much anticipated divorce with her husband Seo In Ho and her liver transplant went well. She's now taking care of her health and making herself a priority over anything. Jeong Suk seemed to be loving her life now and pursuing happiness alone while keeping those she loves the most close to her. After her surgery and her divorce, the building that her ex-mother-in-law loaned after her name became hers and so she opened up a restaurant that serves nutritional salads and also a clinic to practice her profession as a doctor. Everything seemed to be great in her life now and she's genuinely happy so... I think it's a great ending? For her?

I do get the ending, that Doctor Cha is practicing self love and she doesn't need a man or anyone just to be happy. It all starts with her, after all. But, I'm kind of disappointed with how the people around her became. Hmmmm... or maybe I get this feeling because the ending seemed to be rushed that there's no elaboration that happened to the characters at all. Let me start with doctor Roy Kim.

Geez, I was praising him for being an incredible guy for his willingness to risk his life in offering his liver to Jeong Suk despite no assurance whether his feelings will be reciprocated. But suddenly, my admiration towards him crumbles after finding out that he has moved on quickly and is now dating another woman after the rejection. Yes, yes, I know, he's already getting old and needed to settle down but I just didn't expect that this news was revealed just like that. Whew! I thought he was a dedicated man and is willing to wait for Doc Cha but yeah, time is ticking and so he had to move on. Another thing, he seriously donated his bone marrow to his father that he has no connection with personally?! Like, wtf! Right now, after all this, it felt like he's willing to donate his organs to anyone in this world.. lol I'm so disappointed. Jeong Suk saying that she never seen herself and Doctor Roy being a couple was a let down too! All along, it was us viewers who were shipping them for nothing. If only I can take back my giggles over these two. lol

Eun Seo, the daughter of Seung Hi, even though I know that she only wanted her mom to be happy with her love life. It doesn't sit right with me with how she announced that her father Seo In Ho got divorced with his original wife with so much hope in her eyes and tone. Maybe she's still hoping to be a complete family with the 3 of them? Maybe she's lonely for her mom? Or maybe she wanted to feel what it is to have a dad by her side? Who knows and whatever it is, I just don't feel good about it. Thankfully, Seung Hi seemed to have really moved on from Seo In Ho. She's busy operating her own hospital and even if she occasionally ask for Seo In Ho's help, I think they're just having a civil relationship because at the end of the day they are still co-parenting Eun Seo. It's okay for me, just stay platonic though.

And Seo In Ho. Hmmm... he realizes his mistakes for good and is now suffering. Despite having so much in this world, being now the director of their hospital, he doesn't have his whole family to celebrate it with him. His mind was imagining how great it would have been if he's celebrating his life victories with his whole family. Too bad he messed it all up and regretting now his life decisions.

Overall, this drama was a great one. I just had a few issues on the ending but the journey watching this drama was very entertaining and enjoyable so... I'm happy about it.

Kim Byung Chul Sincerely Pleads For A Second Chance To Uhm Jung Hwa In Doctor Cha Episode 15

Episode 15 I think is the episode that made me shed so much tears in the entire series. I don't know yet about episode 16 though. But yeah, the happenings in episode 15 really pierced straight to my heart. Seems like it takes a life and death situation for everyone to open their hearts and minds again in this drama. Of course any decent human being should feel this way. It's just saddening that it had to end up like this before everyone decides to do the right thing. Sigh.

When Jeong Suk had an interaction with her 100 years old patient and her family, she had a realization that as a sick person herself, she needed a place and people to come back to in order for her to fight through her illness with strength and determination. Fighting a serious illness is very tiring but it's unbearable if there's no one waiting for your recovery at all. That breaks my heart so much and made me realize a lot of things in real life. Having someone to share your life with is the greatest gift that you can have in this world. Yes, self love is everything and all but we cannot take away the fact that having people around that truly loves you in this world just makes life even more worthy of living and fighting for. I'm sure that Jeong Suk also realized that having her mother and her children by her side still makes her the lucky one in this difficult time of her life in comparison to the old lady and anyone who's living alone in this world. She also wanted to secure her place in the hospital with their department chief in order for her will to fight even stronger. Gosh, I hope everything go well with her life.

The other scene that made me cry was when Seo In Ho finally, like finally, made some self reflection of all the painful things that he inflicted on his wife. I thought that this time would not come and so it touched my heart when this jerk finally had his breakdown and pleads sincerely for a second chance to make it up to her. He was willing to do anything now for his wife with sincerity this time. We all know that it won't change the fact that he's an as*hole and a jerk and everything bad we can think of a worst man on this planet, but at least now he has learned his lessons despite it being too late. He can no longer change his past mistakes but he can still make correct it one by one and make it up to Jeong Suk. Of course, I still do not want them to be together because learning one's mistake does not automatically meant that all is forgiven and forgotten. The painful trauma in Jeong Suk's heart would still remain there forever and I think it would take a lifetime to heal. Time will heal all wounds but it's something that cannot be rushed.

Choi Seung Hi. Seriously, I'm so happy that she's no longer the bad btch. That's right, realize all your mistakes and apologize to Jeong Suk. Time for you to take responsibility of your sins and ask for Jeong Suk's forgiveness.

And last but not the least, Roy Kim. Seriously, as I'm watching him making an effort for Jeong Suk makes me think if there's really someone like him in the real world? I mean, it would be wonderful to have a person like him that's willing to risk his life for someone who he just made friends with. His relationship with Jung Seok is only friendship and even though he has feelings for him, there's no assurance that his feelings would be reciprocated even if he donates his liver to her. His sacrifices could be put in vain and I'm sure he's aware of it all but I think he's also taking chances considering that he's putting up a fight against Seo In Ho about being a liver donor. I'm not sure if he's doing the right thing but hey this is a kdrama so... everything should look like a fairytale. kkk

Age Comparison of Doctor Cha Casts

One thing I like about kdramas is that the actors' age don't fit their looks most of the time. It's like a guessing game when the actor/actress is unknown yet he/she is on a hit drama. kkk This is exactly what happened to me when I found out about the actress behind Jeong Suk, Uhm Jung Hwa, is only 7 years younger than her on-screen mother-in-law in Doctor Cha actress, Park Jun Geum. Uhm Jung Hwa was born year 1969 while Park Jun Geum was born year 1962.

While watching the drama, I didn't ponder about their age. I just knew that Doctor Cha is middle aged while her mother in law would probably be in her 70s or 80s considering that's how it's usually is in reality, right? But then again, one of the commenters on our Facebook page Korean Drama Updates pointed out their age difference, reason why I'm writing this blog entry. It surprised me of course, to think that they're just 7 years apart. They do both looked old but I just didn't expect the close age gap considering the roles they're portraying for the drama.

Since we're already here, let me put in here the cast of Doctor Cha's current age as of writing this blog post. If you happen to read this in the future, I'll put also their birthyear so you can just do the math to get their real age according to the current year you're in. (Yes I'm talking about my future readers lol)

Uhm Jung Hwa (Doctor Cha Jeong Suk)- 1969 - 54 years old

Park Jun Geum (Seo In Ho's mother)- 1962 - 61 years old

Kim Byung Chul (Seo In Ho)- 1974 - 49 years old

Song Ji Ho (Seo Jung Min)- 1992 - 31 years old

Lee Seo Yeon (Seo I-Rang)- 2003 - 20 years old

Kim Mi Kyung (Cha Jeong Suk's mother)- 1963 - 60 years old

Myung Se Bin (Choi Seung Hi) - 1975 - 48 years old

So Arin (Choi Eun Seo)- 2004 - 19 years old

Min Woo Hyuk (Doctor Roy Kimberley)- 1983 - 40 years old

Baek Joo Hee (Mi Hee)- 1976 - 47 years old

Jo Aram (Jeon So Ra)- 2000 - 23 years old

Sometimes, it's entertaining to learn about these actors/actresses' ages but also painful to see how young these new ones emerging in the kdrama world. Look at them born in the 2000s! wow! I'm getting really old now. huhu

The Different Faces of Kim Byung Chul | Doctor Cha's Seo In Ho

I read thru allkpop about Kim Byung Chul enduring more than a decade of being a nameless actor in the entertainment world. That's so sad but it's real. I checked his profile on AsianWiki and mydramalist, he debuted in a movie called Once Upon A Time In A Battlefield which was from way back 2003, only having a supporting role. Since then, he starred in numerous amount of movies and dramas but still failed to make a name for himself and remained outside the limlight until 2019 came in. He landed his first major role in 2019 in a drama called Doctor Prisoner and won as Best Supporting Actor in KBS Drama Award. He also won the same award at 55th Baeksang Arts Awards for his role in Sky Castle (2019).

Kim Byung Chul was born in the year 1974, and considering this, we'll probably think that he's already popular because up to this date and year, he's still active in the entertainment world. But sadly, that's not the case until his name went buzzing after only starring a major role in Doctor Cha (2023).

Before we talk about his role in Doctor Cha, I'm sure most of you have seen him different hit dramas as well but actually didn't bother to search for his name. I also am like that! I only noticed it a few days ago when his characters popped out on my screen and thought 'shit, so this was him!' Haha! I still cannot forget his character in The Goblin!! OMG! It's really him! lol

Goblin (2016)

His character in Goblin actually won him an award at the 10th Korea Drama Awards! haha cute!

Though I haven't watched the dramas that I will mention below, I searched that he's also a part of them. Which dramas have you noticed him?

Pegasus Market (2019)

Sky Castle (2018-2019)

Descendants of the Sun (2016)

All of Us are Dead (2022)

Anyways, let's talk about his Doctor Cha. We all hated his character Seo In Ho so much but it only meant how convincing Kim Byung Chul is as an actor. His character is detestable for his cheating issues but Kim Byung Chul's comical portrayal of this character made us love him as an actor. I'm so glad that he's finally gaining popularity. It's actually an inspiring story because it's a proof that it's never too late for those who wanted to achieve their dreams no matter what age they're in. So happy that he's creating a buzz in the entertainment world and Doctor Cha surely is a blessing to him as well just like what happened to Min Wook Hyuk. (Doctor Roy Kim)

Kim Byung Chul Opposes to Divorce Uhm Jung Hwa In Doctor Cha Episode 14

I knew it! I already had a feeling about that liver 'issue' to arise once again in this drama. When In Ho started giving things to Jeong Suk as 'apology' to her from previous episodes, I already thought of that  liver incident , 'what if Jeong Suk fell ill once again, will In Ho volunteer to donate his liver this time?'. And looking at how the turn of events unfolded this episode 14, it seems like that's where we're headed.

If only we knew that it was Jeong Suk's mom who can talk the sense out of Seung Hi, I could've wished for her to meet her the sooner in this drama. Seung Hi went vulnerable and finally realized that she can be a better version of herself as an honorable person and a mother, and if she wanted to be like that, she had to move on from In Ho. Aside from Jeong Suk's mother, I think I-Rang made a huge help in crashing down Seung Hi's both defensiveness and aggressiveness. She once planned before to migrate again back to US but it all went down when Eun Seo got hurt because of I-Rang. Whether it was Eun Seo's fault why she got hurt, that doesn't matter to Seung Hi anymore because she, at the end of the day, will always side her own daughter no matter what. But I-Rang apologizing to her made her cold heart a bit warm again, reason why she became a softy towards Jeong Suk. Suddenly asking her to take care of her well being out of nowhere. Like, wtf is happening to you girl? kkk

Now that Seung Hi's out of the picture as the villain in the upcoming episodes, the only one that remained is Seo In Ho. That guy really is an a**hole! Gosh! I really do not get it why he doesn't want a divorce when he don't even love Jeong Suk at all. I mean, he was even sleeping in the den for several years away from her, away from making love with her. He can be with Seung Hi finally, so what's he complaining about?! I guess it's because he's pride and ego as man will be shattered and I hate him for that. He's nothing but a selfish sh*t! GAH!

On the other hand, we have Roy Kim. He finally found his family and turned out they were looking for him too. But at what purpose? To have him as a bone marrow donor for their dying father! WTH! After he got abandoned, after being away from the family, they have no intention to catch up with him at all and treat him as part of the family! Instead, they were all aiming for his bone marrow! Gosh, I'm so sad for doc Roy. They don't deserve him. I think Doc Roy is smart enough not to give in to his long lost family. They are bunch of users and pathetic people after all. Geez, they make my blood boil! Ugh~

But you know what's so interesting about Doc Roy and what makes me feel assured that his love for Doc Cha is greater than anybody else? It's because he's willing to donate his organ 'liver' instead to those people who's supposed to be called as his family. OMG. Doc Roy, you're definitely the STANDARD! He's willing to risk his life for her. Aw!

Anyways, there are only 2 episodes left for this drama and they will be aired this coming Saturday and Sunday. Are you guys ready for the finale? Do you think Jeong Suk will finally be free from In Ho through divorce or through illness? Noooo!

Uhm Jung Hwa's Mom Found Out the Truth in Doctor Cha Episode 13

Just like I-Rang said, this seemed like a deja vu when there's only one person in their family dinner that didn't know about Seo In Ho's infidelity. Instantly, the truth was dropped like a b*mb when their fraternal grandmother was caught in a feud with her 'boyfriend's' wife. What an unfortunate event!

I already had a bad feeling about that old geezer. He was pressing out money from In Ho's mother and even suggested awful tactics. The thing is, In Ho's mother was fooled. Dang, karma is a b*tch and it seemed like In Ho's sins will make the his whole family pay for it. I hope this would knock some sense to their heads. It's about time this grandmother's hunger for money to stop too, especially now that she got scammed. I just hope that, wealth wise, Jeong Suk won't suffer as well.

This whole episode, I'm so frustrated about In Ho's immaturity. His efforts to take Jeong Suk back were so small compared to the weight of his sins that he did to her. I don't think he has any idea how huge the damage he inflicted on her and his whole family yet. I'm still waiting for him to regret miserably if he's really sincere in taking back his wife.

Now that Jeong Suk mom knew everything, I hope that she'll have now a great understanding of what her daughter has been going through. I hope she supports her in fighting for divorce because right now, as I see it, there's really no room for repairing the marriage. Up until now, In Ho has not stated his final decision on his relationship with Seung Hi. Yes, he may have talked to her over dinner but his resolve was too small to deflect Seung Hi's wishes to be with him at all. I mean, if he truly wanted to keep his first and original family, he could've been more clearer and just stop his relationship with Seung Hi. He could still provide for their daughter, of course, but his relationship with the mother should stay platonic now! Ugh! I really don't know how this mess in their family will be solved without In Ho taking a step to man up.

Upon seeing the preview for the next episode, it seemed like this whole problem is taking a toll on Jeong Suk's health. Gosh, don't tell me she's severely ill coz wtf!!!

The Actor Behind Doctor Roy Kim (Min Wook Hyuk) Is Married In Real Life | Doctor Cha

Because everyone is madly in love with his character doctor Roy Kim in Doctor Cha drama, I've decided to research more about the actor behind this character, Min Wook Hyuk. To be honest, it's only my first time to encounter him in the Kdrama world. This is probably why most of us are enchanted by his looks coz he's fresh and new to our eyes. I assume some viewer's eyes twinkled as they spotted another 'oppa' to add to their long list. kkk He's definitely a hot good looking man, so I cannot blame anyone from getting attracted to his character in Doctor Cha.

Upon checking his bio on AsianWiki, despite being born in the year 1983, his entertainment career is only filled with a few acting projects on small screen (tv). Sad thing is, I haven't watched any of it. But in case you are wondering what they were, here's the list for you:

Holyland (2012)
The Thousandth Man (2012)
Vampire Prosecutor 2 (2012)
The 3rd Charm (2018)
Love with Flaws (2019-2020)
If You Wish Upon Me (2022)
Doctor Cha (2023)

Among the dramas on the list, Doctor Cha is the only drama where he got the main role! Wow! Doctor Cha serves as his breakout role! It's a blessing in his life and family!

Speaking of family, I dig more into his private life and found out that he's actually a family man! Yes, sorry to all the girls, our main boy Min Wook Hyuk is already married! He married Lee Se Mi which is known to be a girl group member of LPG (Lovely Pretty Girls) from way back and now a program host. They currently have 2 children! Nice!

What I like about their relationship is that, it was Lee Se Mi who supported Min Wook Hyuk during the time where he was financially struggling. She's the one also pushing him to do auditions for different projects. It was endearing to know where their love started and I'm so happy that they've been through it all despite not knowing them personally. kk

Ooh wait! Other than the dramas I've mentioned above he was also into guestings to different shows. I discovered that he can sing, and it's a no wonder that he's active in musicals much more on TV dramas or movies. All his time went to these activities/projects instead. He's quite busy too if you check out his MyDramaList profile!

Anyways, I'm still happy that he finally is getting the break that he deserves after all the difficult times. Go for it, doctor Roy! I mean, Min Wook Hyuk!
