This episode tells us exactly what it means to be protecting our hearts by expressing what we really mean and by standing up for our own self including our dreams. Nobody would be able to protect us but ourselves. This is really such a great reminder to all of us especially in our modern society today where we compromise ourselves and our feelings to give way to other people because there's hierarchy that dictates us what to do. This happens most especially in our workplace. It's true that in order to survive this chain, we must use white lies and sugarcoat our words to come out pleasing to the ears of those we wanted to have a good impression with but we should do it moderately. Gosh!!! Have you seen the music video!? OMG That was like the most mature MV I have seen of Red Velvet, and those two really did well! They are little monsters that caught big parts in our heart because of that MV. Like totally dominating it! People may argue that it looked really sexual but if you focus (which I bet you can't) on the message of the lyrics and how they portray their concept you could actually understand why it was done the way it is now. From my understanding, in general, it's about discovering and the process of overcoming your inner monster. And I think this concept is relatable for us all, as humans, we do have a lot on our plate and one of our biggest enemy has been always ourselves. I think the first teaser video entitled two shadows that SM released before says so much about their concept for that monster already, and the lyrics 'Under the same light, there are two shadows' strengthens that.
What I like so much about the MV is... it's so dark! lol From the setting to the costumes and props, like everything is dark concept and I love it so much! I really like the velvet concept of RV, like psycho but Monster is definitely darker so I'm not sure anymore if it's still categorized on the velvet or is it already beyond that? Anyways, aside from that, the DANCE MOVES!! OH MY GOD! My most favorite part would be around the 0:26 to 0:32.. it was amazing! STUNNING even!!! I wish there will be a dance practice version of this. Irene and Seulgi are the lead and main dancers respectively in the group so it's really amazing to see those two move.
And can we please talk about their voices? Like daaaaaamn!!! It's already given how great Seulgi is, she has really a great tone on her voice that it's very distinctive as well. But, hey Irene?!!! I've always believed that Irene has a great voice too, the way I listen to their RV tracks, and I am just so glad that in this unit she could shine like any vocalist should have been. It's really a great opportunity for her to shoo away the idea that she's just more than just a pretty face. Irene has talents, and if Monster haven't shown you that then I don't know anymore.
The unit has been a success in the start and it's soaring continuously with the charts, it already surpasses the Red Velvet (as a whole group) milestones as well. The fans really miss them and it shows how this unit became a success. I could only hope that this kind of treatment and hype would be continuous for our other girls. I'm gonna wait further what SM has installed for our Wendy, Joy and Yeri. Sheez, please give me some WAN SOLO!!!! GIVE US WHAT WE WANTED!! AAHHH
