Squid Game Season 2 Honest Review | Episodes 1-7

Squid Game season 2 finally got available for streaming on Netflix yesterday (December 26) and yours truly finished all 7 episodes in one seating as well. 1st episode really deserved the hype, Jun Ho was alive and Gong Yoo gave a spectacular performance as the suit man who we finally got to know as just another psychopath. I already had an impression in season 1 that whoever were involved in putting up this game were all psychopaths and I was right the whole time. We got the Front Man become a player of the game too and represent the number 001. He got 'friends' with Gi Hun throughout the series only to betray him in the end. It's crazy, really! Gi Hun was still too kind and trusting to even win a game against the Front Man. Speaking of Gi Hun, it was really stupid of him to think he could stop the game by invading and probably meeting the person behind all this. Tbh, I really find his mission to be very stupid and annoying. I get it, he means well and that he wants to save lives but really? Why mess with everyone's experience to become the winner of the game. They all went there in their own accord. The Front Man was trying to make him understand that but Gi Hun thinks differently. lol Oh well, that's how Gi Hun was made, if Gi Hun doesn't think differently, we won't get a 2nd and 3rd seasons at all. kkk

I got to love and hate a lot of characters in here. I love Gi Hun's team, obviously! The pair of marines, Jung Bae and Dae Ho. I love their tandem but it was a let down for me at how Dae Ho acted in the last episode. Seriously, if he doesn't know how to fight with a gun, he should've just stayed behind with the rest of the players in their quarters. Because of him, the rest of Gi Hun's team died waiting for his return with the magazines. Sigh. Jung Bae was admirable friend till the very end. Very courageous and stayed by Gi Hun's side till the very end. I'm just sad that Front Man killed him so easily like that and even in front of Gi Hun.

My most loved character is probably Hyun Ju. Yes, the transgender one. She served in the military before when he's still a man, that's where she got her leadership and combat skills. She's very reliable! And of course, if I have my most loved character, I also have my most hated character. TBH, I was gonna say it was the addict Thanos but as I recall throughout the series, it was actually the old man Im Jong Dae (no. 100). Seriously, I wanted to slap his face every time he's on screen. lol So annoying! I was waiting the whole time for him to die and get eliminated from the game but there was nothing for this season. Hopefully in the next season! kkk

I'm not gonna lie though, I was really annoyed by the villain Thanos here A LOT too! But what can we expect from an addict like him, anyway?

Overall, I like the season 2 but I was disappointed that it was left hanging like that. I thought we're at least gonna have some open ending not entirely a hanging one. It looked liked Gi Hun's mission to save everyone was pointless like this. Now, we have to wait a little longer before this impression gets replaced.  Sigh.

Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin Signs A Contract Marriage in "The Trunk" Series

Viewers who are disliking this series just because they can't handle the love scenes are understandable but to generalize this as an awful project for that particular reason is unacceptable. Well, yes, probably this series ain't suitable for younger ages and tastes of the viewers but there are definitely those who are like me who enjoys this kind of stuff. I think the love scenes are there for a vital reason, it cannot be left just for the imagination of the viewers. It actually stresses out how twisted the minds of certain characters who use sex to cope up with difficult situations, like for example, the character of Seo Yeon (Jung Yun Ha). She always sorts to having sex with her partner but it does not resolve any of her main problems at all. There's one scene also where In Ji (Seo Hyun Jin) has this dream about her and Jeong Won (Gong Yoo) having sex too. But people, this ain't all about that! Like I said in my previous Facebook post, it is dark but has depth kind of series. Only those who are curious and patient to understand the characters and their stories would be able to enjoy this one. It fits for those mature audiences.

Anyway, I absolutely love this. I think it really was fantastic and the casting was stellar! It wasn't only Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin who carried the whole show, it was actually every character in it. Actress Jung Yun Ha did a spectacular job in acting out her character Seo Yeon. To do those love scenes surely was a challenge as well as the complexity of her character. She's twisted and I disliked everything about this character throughout the show so I was really surprised to see her realizing her mistakes and overcoming her personal issues in the end. My anger got instantly faded and pity is what I felt for her as well as her NM contract marriage partner, Ji O (Jo Yi Gun), who got jailed for killing Eom Tae Seong (Kim Dong Won). This, too! I was surprised that it was him all along. Glad about it though, I mean, I wouldn't want In Ji or Jeong Won to do that dirty job.

As for In Ji and Jeong Won, I really love these two. The growth of their characters from first episode to the last was really beautiful. Before, they're overwhelmed by their personal issues that ruined themselves and their respective partners, but once they met and got to know each other, they started to resolve these issues and heal together slowly. When they both got closure from their exes and end things with Eom Tae Seong, they were still emotionally unavailable during that time to start a new genuine relationship with each other. Or at least that's more for In Ji's part. Jeong Won got matured enough to wait until In Ji was ready, something that he wasn't able to do while he's with his ex wife. During the time that they were separated, they grew as an individual person not depending on other people for their happiness. They were able to understand themselves more and heal those scars left by their traumatic experiences in the past. The hope of them reuniting is so huge that I'm not bothered at all that it ended with them chance meeting for the first time again. The universe has its way to make them meet after all, even when they weren't well acquainted before too.

I'd definitely recommend this drama!!! Watch it, it's really good!

Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo In a Contemporary Historical Drama Soon? Gong Yoo Considering the Offer

This news is only about them considering the role and it already has stirred up the whole Kdrama community what more if this drama with them really happened?! Mind blowing! I really do hope that Gong Yoo would take this role positively as I really am wanting to see him with Song Hye Kyo in a drama. I'm not really sure how they'll do it but I'm curious as to how the both of them would make the drama work out. At this point, they are considered to be living legends in the industry (at least by me) since they've come a long way and their names up until today are still trending. Longevity is hard to achieve in their field considering that every year there are rising actors/actresses being known powered by social media but here they are still relevant!

The drama is penned by award winning screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung (That Winter, The Wind Blows) and will be directed by Coffee Prince Director Lee Yoon Jung. If both actors are going to accept their respective offers, Song Hye Kyo will be reuniting thrice already with the screenwriter and Gong Yoo will reunite the 2nd time with the director.

The said drama, unnamed yet, is a contemporary historical drama that will be about individuals in the showbiz industry.
