Go Kyung Pyo Protected His Heart and Dream In Frankly Speaking Episode 3

This episode tells us exactly what it means to be protecting our hearts by expressing what we really mean and by standing up for our own self including our dreams. Nobody would be able to protect us but ourselves. This is really such a great reminder to all of us especially in our modern society today where we compromise ourselves and our feelings to give way to other people because there's hierarchy that dictates us what to do. This happens most especially in our workplace. It's true that in order to survive this chain, we must use white lies and sugarcoat our words to come out pleasing to the ears of those we wanted to have a good impression with but we should do it moderately. In a way that, we wouldn't lose our true selves in the long run. That has become the problem with Song Ki Baek here. He was so used to living in lies and sugarcoat everything that he lost his true self to get himself to his desired dream/goal. Now that he got a disease of telling only the truth, it

The Controversies That Mr. Queen Kdrama Endured

Mr. Queen has already ended with a high viewership rating which meant the audience were delighted over this drama. But did you know that Mr. Queen has faced many controversies before and during it's airing period? This drama might have taken the 5th spot for having a high viewership rating in the history of TvN but they have endured a lot of controversies as well.

Mr. Queen is a historical romantic fantasy comedy drama so it's really inevitable to not cause a stir to the viewers, especially when it refers to important historical figures of the nation as main characters. But we all know how it goes when our creativity is used in our works, right? We challenge new ideas to infuse to our work to make it perfect to our eyes and interesting for the others. So I'm sure that Mr. Queen production team does not intend to hurt sensitive viewers but just wanted to serve something new.

Here, we will list down the biggest controversies that Mr. Queen Kdrama had endured.

1. Racist Controversy

Mr. Queen Kdrama is a Korean adaptation of the Chinese novel called Go Princess, Go whose author had made racist attacks towards Koreans in another work. Therefore, South Koreans criticized the production team for making an adaptation of one of the author's works.

This controversy exploded even before Mr. Queen aired, but the producers explained that they only adapted the concept of a male lead's soul transferring inside the body of a Queen and nothing more.

2. Disrespecting National Treasures

As early as episode 2, the viewers yet again criticized the show for mocking the historical treasure. Queen Cheorin who was portrayed by actress Shin Hye Sun stated in the drama that The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty was nothing but a Jirashi (tabloid/contains only rumors). The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty is considered to be the 151st national treasure of  Korea that contains a continual record of a single dynasty, reason why the viewers were angered by the disrespect.

The PDs took responsibility over it and released an apology.

3. Mocking Historical Figures

Queen Dowager Shin Jeong was shown as someone who was obsessed with superstition in the drama. Therefore, the ancestors of Shin Jeong weren't happy about it concluding that the show is mocking historical figures.

Since Mr. Queen is a fiction, PDs explained that they do not intend to represent the historical figures negatively.

Mr. Queen production only issued apology to all these controversies at once and explained that their only intention was to make people laugh considering its genre. Still, they promised to pay closer attention to the details more in order not to cause more discomfort to the audience.

Anyways, glad that the drama didn't halt because of these. They have endured a lot and thankfully the audience felt comfortable with it as the drama progressed. It's now considered as one of the most successful kdrama TvN had in their history. Congratulations!
