Good Partner is officially over with 16 episodes. Actually, there's still episode 17 but I assume it's just a special episode to fill in a program in that time slot. There had been an irregular counting of episodes to show every week due to the effect of the Olympics coverage, that's why it had to be episode 17. Episode 16 already concluded the story so... I can say that it's officially over by now. Anyway, the drama finale reached a 15.2% in the nationwide viewership ratings, although it did not beat it's personal all time high record of 17.7% from Episode 7, it's still considered a big hit overall from SBS.
Jung Woo Jin's childhood history resurfaced upon the appearance of his step mom filing a divorce case against his father, Oh Dae Gyu. Han Yuri represented Woo Jin's step mom while Cha Eun Kyung represented his father in court. Thankfully, after communication between two attorneys, they helped the two get reconciled and take back getting divorced. Han Yuri got herself a junior attorney to mentor at Dae Jeong law firm who is exactly like her when she was beginning her career. Yuri and Eun Ho's relationship got stronger than ever but Woo Jin's love for Eun Kyung remained a secret. Eun Kyung on the other hand got to meet with her ex-husband, Ji Sang, and encouraged him to meet Jae Hui. Jae Hui seemed to be thinking twice whether to meet her father despite missing him so Eun Kyung made an effort for them to meet again. In totality, the important issues were resolved and I consider this to be a happy ending for the main characters.
I honestly love the flow of this drama. Even though I am not divorced, not even married yet, I can still sympathize with the clients of different cases. Generally speaking, I assume that we know what is morally right and wrong so even some of us hasn't gone through what the clients have been going through in here, we find ourselves picking a side to root for in the end. Aside from different cases, the attorneys' way of handling everything is what made it relatable to some of us professionals. Like me, even though I have a different profession from them, the structure of how corporate world works is so relatable. Han Yuri started as a rookie attorney, became a mentee of Cha Eun Kyung and then as they work different cases together, she grew into someone competitive and capable of an attorney. She can work on her own cases now. And that's how a person grows beautifully, if there's a will from the mentee to grow as well as if the mentor is someone you can learn a lot of experience from. Witnessing everything from the very beginning up to achieving success or growth has always been enjoyable to me. I can watch this whole thing for the rest of my life, tbh. hahaha it's just that good of a drama to me.
