Choi Woo Sung Gained 25kg for Chief Detective 1958 and Roy Gained 30kg for The Atypical Family

We all know that Choi Woo Sung was part of a successful and recently completed drama Chief Detective 1958 as he portrayed perfectly his role as the strong guy Choi Gyeong Hwan. His character there first worked in Jongnam market as a rice porter but later on discovered by Lee Je Hoon's character Park Yeonghan as he fights Dongdaemun gang. After Yeonghan witnessed the amazing strength and sense of justice that Gyeong Hwan possessed, he convinced him to be part of Jongnam police. His character there really is reliable and helped so much in solving cases with Lee Je Hoon.

Here's the twist though. I know Woo Sung first when I saw him in My Roommate is a Gumiho, the brother of Hyeri's character. I've seen his built to be really huge because of muscles but not of fat. In Chief Detective 1958, however, it's obvious that he has put on weights. I've found out that he intentionally gained weight for the purpose of portraying this role. He made an effort of gaining 25kg and even attended action school in preparation for this role of Choi Gyeong Hwan.

On the other hand, the hidden oppa in the character of Hyeong Tae in the on-going drama The Atypical Family, also underwent the similar experience of putting on weight for a certain role. Choi Kwang Rok or mostly known as Roy gained a 30kg to transform into the character of Noh Hyeong Tae.

Talk about dedication, huh?! They are both amazing to be willing to undergo transformation like that. Gaining and definitely losing weight is a difficult task that any of us could relate. Therefore, it's really amazing that they did this.
