I knew it! Senior court lady Dong was going to take her own life with that poison! I really had a great hunch after she cried to Mong Woo about her having enough of everything. I hated senior court lady Dong from the start but that changed after what she did in the end. She meant no harm at all to the King, she was just madly in love with him to the point that she'll do everything in her power to protect him despite her feelings weren't reciprocated. I actually felt sad because of her death as it really took a toll on King Yi In. It was during Lady Dong's dying messages and actions that the King realizes her loyalty towards him. All this time he kept her close not just because of the crime they both committed and kept a secret but so that he could also keep an eye on her knowing that she's his mother and uncle's subject. The King felt regretful that he couldn't even send Lady Dong warm regards when she was serving him all this time. Tbh, lady dong really served him well being his confidant. They share a burden/crime that only both of them knew.
On the other hand, up till the very end, principal director tried to act as if he's still above every official of the court and that since he takes pride as the only kin of the King, a punishment is still is a reward to him for being a loyal subject. I think it really got into his head that because he did everything to put the King to the throne it means that he'll be able to get away with any crimes he has committed. He actually ended up being insane at the end as kept on deluding himself with such thoughts. I pity him on that, really. But he was put on that situation because he refuses to confess and take punishment for his actions the first time the King asked him mercifully. If only he took that chance then he would've evaded such humiliation and punishment. But no, he fought wrongly till the end so he deserved what happened to him. It's just sad that it has to end like that considering that the King and principal director as still a once called 'relatives/family'. Geez stubbornness and too much pride wouldn't really get you anywhere!
It's all thanks to Kim Myung Ha's character development that secures His Majesty's triumph against his uncle. Kim Myung Ha became a witness that Yoo Hyun Bo and principal director plotted treason because they asked him to be part of it which became a way for Yoo Hyun Bo to testify against principal director being also the spy that colluded with Qing 3 years ago. I'm so glad that Myung Ha used his brains and actually realizes righteousness despite what happened to his father before. He now knew that the King fought till the end to protect the now Crowned Prince, his remaining Kin.
But all is not well yet as Queen Dowager found out about gidaeryeong Mong Woo's real sexuality. Other than that, the emperor of Qing wanted to play with gidaeryeong which concerns tha King the most!!! Waaah! Just one more episode left for this drama!!! I'm gonna miss it so much every weekend!
