Since The Penthouse k-drama is approaching its end, now at episode 7, let me take you back to the characters' descriptions. It's a reminder for us, to know how respond to our questions on how or why a certain character act the way they do in the drama. Sometimes, we're carried away with the flow of events that we forget where each characters are coming from and what drives them to act in a certain way. The Penthouse really is filled with a lot of shocking twists and turns but the nature of each character does not change from the very start at all. Penthouse drama is a story about different people who lives in a 100 story building. There's a "queen" that no one can come close to, a "prima donna" who has overflowing desire to be above everyone else and a normal "woman" who will scamper to enter the upper class living. They are all different people but, they all share the same obsession over power to satisfy their own needs and egos. The other thing that sets these women on fire is when someone stomp over their respective children.
Actress Lee Ji Ah is playing the role of an elite Shim Su Ryeon who is born with luxuries. A woman of elegance and dignity. The penthouse queen, who knows all the secrets around her, morphs to this peculiar atmosphere. However, her peace was not for long and finally came out of her shell when she found out about her biological daughter's grim death. Later, she was driven to find the murderer and avenge against everyone who inflicted her pain.
Actress Kim So Yeon is taking the role of a perfect prima donna Cheon Seo Jin who is born in a well-off family, a woman that lived with not just silver but with golden spoon and chopsticks in her mouth! Someone with a charm that's imposingly fancy is also a figure that will constantly fulfill her desires wrongfully.
S.E.S.' Eugene is Oh Yoon Hee who has a difficult life and less fortune. She is a devoted mother who will do everything to enter the upper class living for the success and dream of her child.
Actor Uhm Ki Joon is playing the role of Joo Dan Tae who has an exceptional talent in real estate which brought him a huge success in the said industry with him being the chairman of his own real estate company. Uhm Ki Joon's character is Shim Su Ryeon's husband in this drama. It was then on season 3 we found out the reason why he's so obsessed with money and power. (Read: Joo Dan Tae's childhood)
Actress Shin Eun Kyung is playing the role of Kang Ma Ri who lives a double life that's yet to be revealed. (Clearly, they are talking about the secret of maintaining her lavish lifestyle with her daughter by working in the spa.) In season 3, we found out that her husband was not in abroad but was in jail since Joo Dan Tae framed him to cover for his crime.
Actor Bong Tae Gyu is Lee Kyu Jin who is lawyer that owns his own firm/office, an only son from a wealthy family with background in legal profession. He's a mama's boy too.
Actor Yoon Jong Hoon is Ha Yoon Cheol who is an ambitious person that strongly believes that 'a man should hold money and power'. He is the chief surgeon in a large scale general hospital that his wife, Cheon Seo Jin's family owns. (Ugh, I hate him)
Actor Park Eun Seok is Gu Ho Dong who has a brazen personality and is a P.E. teacher of the high school students. (At this time, The Penthouse prod hasn't revealed yet his other characters which is Logan Lee and Alex Lee) His sudden appearance in the story was to look for Min Seol Ah's murderer since he's her foster brother in the States.
While writing this, now it all makes sense to me again why all of them were like that. I should have done this before to fully understand the characters really well. It would've shut me up when I'm reacting based on my current emotions with what's happening in the drama. lol
