Song Kang Was A Graceful Ballet Dancer But Lacks Dedication In Navillera Episode 1

So among the 2 Korean dramas that premiered last night, March 22, it was Song Kang's Navillera that I saw first. To be very honest, I was hesitant to watch it since I don't have a thing for men doing ballets but I was so glad that I watched it in the end coz I was wrong with that misconception of mine. Song Kang as a ballet dancer was such a blessing for my eyes! That visual, those muscles, the sweat, omygod this is a real sight to see! LOL But kidding aside, I took the first episode really great not only because of I'm drowning myself with Song Kang's sexiness but also because the story resonates with me.

This drama depicts the regrets of old people not able to chase after their dreams because of the responsibilities that life bestowed upon them. They worked for the others but never worked for themselves and their own happiness. To some people, like Choi Hae Nam (Na Moon Hee) who was the wife of Sim Deok Chool (Park In Hwan), being able to see her children living a good life was her sole purpose and she's contented with that, but to the likes of Sim Deok Chool who has a dream of his own, he maybe happy for his wife and his children but he was never happy for himself. A life without fulfilling a dream for ourselves is like a something's always missing and that missing piece will always haunt us until our very last breath. That's what happened to Sim Deok Chool's friend in the hospital. That was really a sad scene!

Afraid that he'll lose his chance in this lifetime to do follow his dreams, Sim Deok Chool went to a ballet company where Lee Chae Rok (Song Kang) was in. The teacher and ballet dancer himself, Ki Seung Joo (Kim Tae Hoon) will take Sim Deok Chool in despite his age to teach him ballet through Lee Chae Rok. That was actually the best move because Chae Rok has a huge potential in ballet and Seung Joo can see that but he lacks the enthusiasm to go all out for ballet dancing. That's the trait he was lacking in order to become fully dedicated to ballet and that trait was found in Sim Deok Chool. Soon Chae Rok will learn a lot from this old man, not skills obviously, but lessons about life and chasing after dreams.

Just seeing the first episode, I know that this will be an inspirational drama. The last one that I've watched with this kind of genre was Start-Up, they are of different concept and way of story telling but at the end of the day, they will make you think of things and end up getting motivated. I really like this! Just what I needed the most in this period of major setback.
