This drama has officially ended and weekends won't be the same exciting and joyful anymore. Who wouldn't miss our tactless Queen Cheorin and naughty King Cheoljong? Their tandem is such a great combination that's fitting to anyone's taste in a Kdrama. The plot of Mr. Queen challenged creativity with wits and humor to infuse in their history. It was brave of them to do, the production have received criticisms along the airing period of Mr. Queen but garnering a high viewership rating meant how ready people are with such creativity too. They say you can't be creative if you're afraid after all. Kudos to the team of Mr. Queen for that.
I am glad that it turned out to be a happy ending with Jong Bong Hwan coming back to his own world and Queen Cheorin and King Cheoljong were safe in the palace. The baby surviving it was a bonus happiness for all of us. In real life, Queen Cheorin has a son but only lived a few months. Oops something to spoil our happy ending, huh? Sorry not sorry. But anyways it was fun having to stick with Mr. Queen for 20 episodes. I sure am going to miss it and hopefully we'll find more kdramas like this. It was really a refreshing kdrama.
On a more honest opinion though, I do feel like the ending was a bit rushed. The war that I was expecting was something way heavier than what I have watched. We've been showed how King Cheoljong's team was preparing dramatically over the war in the previous episodes but we're given less exposure to the war itself. I somewhat kind of felt that there was something lacking. Cheoljong grieving over Cheorin felt the same too. I don't know, maybe it's just me but it would probably be better if they spare another episode for it to be perfect. There must have been not enough time for more details to convey so an episode could have been a better solution. But anyways.. I know most of you are well contented with the ending considering that it is a happy ending. Most of you aren't up for more dramas and grieving in Mr. Queen after all. lol
Mr. Queen closes with a 17.37% nationwide viewership rating and has an average of 12.58% overall. This record made it the 5th highest drama viewership rating in TvN history.
